Child Health Research Funding Opportunities

Research and Innovation Scholar Award (RISA) (faculty only)

The RISA is available to support early-stage Child Health investigators in their first faculty position. The award is for one year. Second year funding will be considered upon submission of a progress report before the end of first year funding, demonstrating adequate progress. The RISA replaces the former RSA award. The award requires a letter from the applicant's Division/Section Chief or Department Chair guaranteeing that the specified percentage of time is protected for research activities (require 75% FTE or 50% FTE for surgeons).

Bridge Funding supplement (faculty only)

An MD/DO or PhD investigator who is a full-time CU faculty member with primary appointment in 1) the department of pediatrics or 2) of a child health related department or division, such as pediatric surgery, pediatric radiology, or child psychiatry, is eligible for a Bridge Funding supplement.  

Pending the review of eligible applications from child health investigators with a connection to CHCO who receive bridge funding from the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Bridge Funding for Grant Lapses program, the Child Health Bridge Funding supplement is $25,000.

The Child Health Research Pilot Award provides $50,000 (direct costs) to support projects intended to yield essential data for future extramural funding opportunities. The duration of the award spans one year.

Children's Hospital Colorado - University of Colorado/School of Mines Collaboration Pilot Awards provide financial support for research projects that will allow investigators to obtain data for future extramural research support.
