Virtual Pediatric Urgent Care
Illnesses and injuries can’t always wait for your doctor’s office to open. That’s why Children’s Hospital Colorado offers virtual pediatric urgent care for babies, children and teens located in Colorado. Virtual visits allow your child to be seen and treated by a pediatric healthcare provider from the comfort and privacy of your home. Following the appointment, we’ll inform your child's primary care doctor about the visit, so their medical record will be up to date.
Virtual urgent care is open seven days a week, from 2 to 10 p.m. Mountain Time. Limited appointments are available.

Virtual urgent care can be a great option to treat certain illnesses, injuries and conditions in kids, but in some cases, it's better to seek in-person care. If you believe your child needs immediate medical attention or are concerned about a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
Pediatric illnesses, injuries and conditions we treat through virtual urgent care
Our virtual urgent care services are available only to children located in Colorado under 22 years of age. Below are some examples of conditions that may be appropriate for virtual urgent care:
- Abdominal pain
- Allergic reaction (mild), including seasonal allergies and hives
- Animal bite
- Asthma attack (mild)
- Breathing difficulties (mild)
- Burn (mild)
- Cold, cough or mild croup
- COVID-19 (coronavirus) concern
- Mild cuts, sprains, strains and falls
- Dehydration
- Flu-like illness
- Mild headache
- Lice or scabies
- Minor head injuries, including mild concussion
- Newborn health concerns, including fussy baby (colic) and breastfeeding
- Pink eye
- Rash
- Sinus infection
- Vomiting, diarrhea or nausea
Below are some examples of symptoms and conditions that we cannot treat through virtual urgent care. Please visit one of our in-person urgent or emergency care locations for these concerns:
- Earache or concern for ear infection
- Fever in infants younger than 3 months
- Fever for 5 or more days
- Concern for strep throat
- Concern for appendicitis (constant right lower abdominal tenderness)
- Urination pain or concern for urinary tract infection
- Dehydration with no urine output for more than 8 hours
- Drug, alcohol or medication ingestion or intoxication
- Pregnancy-related concerns
- Mental health concerns, psychiatric services, suicidal ideation
- Cuts that likely need stitches or repair
- Suspected fracture or broken bone

Frequently asked questions about virtual urgent care
Appointments and eligibility
You’ll need a reliable internet connection and a computer, smartphone or tablet. Cellular data charges may apply, so we recommend using a Wi-Fi connection or an unlimited data plan if you have one.
First, go to MyChart
- You will need a MyChart account to make a virtual urgent care appointment. You can log in to MyChart or sign up for a Children’s Colorado MyChart account if you don’t yet have one.
Schedule your appointment
- In MyChart, select “Schedule an Appointment” from the main menu. From here, choose “Virtual Urgent Care – Telemedicine.”
- You will be prompted to answer a few questions about your child’s symptoms to make sure they are eligible for virtual urgent care. If your child can be seen virtually, you will be able to make an appointment.
Check in
- Prior to your appointment, log in to MyChart and complete the e-check-in process.
- If this is your first telehealth visit with us, you’ll be prompted to download VidyoConnect from the app store for Android or Apple.

If your child’s health concern can’t be resolved through a virtual appointment, our team will help you find the next best step of care based on your child’s condition and situation.
No. Due to medical licensing rules, this service is only available for children who are physically present in Colorado.
Insurance and payment options
Yes, we do accept insurance for virtual care visits. All insurance plans work differently, so we recommend reaching out to your insurance company ahead of time if you’d like information on whether this service is covered.
We offer a flat-rate, cash-pay option of $75 for families who don't have insurance or have out-of-network insurance. Contact the MyChart help desk at 720-777-9061 if you need assistance. Learn more about insurance, billing and payment.
